Earth Herald
Published in Paperback by Roc (July, 1998)
Author: Jan Clark
Average review score:

Can it get any better?
I loved Prodigy, but this one put a whole new twist on the worlds created by Jan Clark that I just can't get enough of. There was depth, and a real sense of danger. The new characters added were well thought out, and they enriched the quality of the story instead of taking away from it as some new characters do. I loved the ending, it completely fit my idea of justice, and the hope for Reika there is wonderful. I want to read more!

A wonderful sequel to Prodigy.
This book is even more intriguing than the first one. Reika, who gave up command of her ship, has been elected "Earth Herald," which is the galaxy's greatest honor. Her first priority is to repopulate Earth, which had been decimated by an asteroid centuries before. At this time, humans live on various Commonwealth planets, but none of them have a world to call their own. Now that Earth has recovered from the disaster, Reika believes that it is time for humanity to reclaim its world. Unfortunately, there are certain individuals who oppose her plans for Earth, including her own mother who is against the resettlement of Earth. The subplots are also very interesting, including Reika and her Centauri husband's desire to have a child. And a fearsome new villian is introduced. I hope Ms. Clark writes a third book, then there would be a trilogy. They could explore how the resettled humans are doing on Earth, and if Reika and Triscoe start a family. I will definitely recommend this book to my friends who are Science Fiction fans. Looking forward to the next one :)

Encyclopedia of Strange and Unexplained Physical Phenomena
Published in Hardcover by Gale Group (April, 1993)
Author: Jerome Clark
Average review score:

Excellent tool for people interested in unsolved mysteries!
Finding unsolved mysteries to be quite interesting, I therefore had to examine and study this title in question, i.e.,Encyclopedia of Strange and Unexplained Physical Phenomena by Jerome Clark. In here one will find out about lost dinosaurs, hair ape like creatures and other odd and mysterious items and unsolved mysteries. Recommended.

Spooky!
If you're into UFOs, physical anomalies, psychic powers, cryptoterrestrials, the reality of myth, the world's most inept hoaxes, or anything else that qualifies as weird, this is your book! Jerome Clark presents more information and research on most of the entries than any other source I've read, and he even has a bit about why some people are believers and some people are skeptics. Many of the entries are of such obscure occurences that even me, the paranormal buff, haven't heard of. Great for amateurs and pros of the field alike.

The Expert Encyclopedia of Recording
Published in Paperback by ArtistPro.com (July, 2002)
Author: Rick Clark
Average review score:

Great intro to the innards of hi-pro audio
This book is loaded with tips on how to achieve things most of us (especially those with personal studios in our bedrooms or basements) may not have thought of. Some of the stuff is pretty subtle, and trained and experienced ears are necessary to grasp the concepts and their execution/realization. But even the very advanced stuff whets the appetite, and sets you up to begin learning more, and pretty fast.

There are basically 24 chapters, covering all phases and aspects of studio recording and production - from tracking through mixing right up to and including mastering. The chapters are organized alphabetically (rather than chronologically).

Most of the interviews are pretty darn good, and are either useful, inspiring, or both. The interviewees are very knowledgeable and well spoken, and usually don't succumb too much to industry "jargonese". One of the neatest things is when they tell you what microphones are good for what, as well as what kind of compressors and consoles they prefer, and why. Much of the hardware discussed is somewhat out of the price range for the average home recordist; instead the book gives you a feel for what it would be like to take your project into a professional studio, rather than trying to do it all yourself.

One beef I have is the so-called Appendix 1 (hey, guys, there's only one appendix here!), which is almost 100 pages of album credits by the numerous interviewees. Then again, if you're searching for the perfect producer, engineer, etc. to record your act, and people of this caliber are what you want, this information could prove to be indispensable for the furtherance of your project.

A practical guide to the art and career of recording
The Expert Encyclopedia Of Recording by musician, author and journalist Rick Clark is an expertly thorough and practical guide to the art and career of recording. Drawn from in-depth research with accomplished engineers, producers, and artists, The Expert Encyclopedia Of Recording is a direct and straightforward account covering everything from dynamic signal processing to production sickness to surround sound recording mixing and vocals. The Encyclopedia Of Recording is very highly recommended reading for anyone considering a career in the sound technology industry.

Faith and Saving Faith
Published in Paperback by Trinity Foundation (June, 1985)
Author: Gordon Clark
Average review score:

The best book on saving faith available
Gordon H. Clark's "Faith And Saving Faith" is perhaps the best book written on the subject of the nature of saving faith. In this book Clark exposes just how ridiculous much popular thinking on faith is. The much used and abused distinction between "head faith" and "heart faith" is here demonstrated to be unscriptural, as Clark conclusively demonstrates that in Scripture there is no distinction between the heart and mind (see pages 67-77 under the heading "Charles Hodge"). Clark takes the classic theological understanding of faith as being divided into notitia (knowledge), assensus (assent) and fiducia (trust), and exposes it as the logical nonsense it is; since fiducia or trust is a synonym for faith, it therefore cannot be one of faiths components. I unreservedly recommend this book.

The historical context of christian anti-intellectualism
Unfortunately, reasoning and thinking skills of this quality are not to be found in contemporary pop authors. This book touches on many things, but foremost it is a linear logical critique of the ideas and doctrines of men in a historical context. Clark moves through history with a critical eye on faith and saving faith exposing the lack of logic and clear thinking on the part of specific individuals in regards to saving faiths definition. His position is one in which, to believe propositions (facts) about someone is to believe in them. There is no more to it than that. Thus, rendering the concept of easy believism empty and meaningless. Also, it's a sort of prophetic warning against the descent of popular christiandom into anti-intellectualism, which at this point is an established reality. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to enlarge their understanding of these issues.

The Faith: Understanding Orthodox Christianity: An Orthodox Catechism
Published in Paperback by Regina Orthodox Pr (July, 1997)
Author: Clark Carlton
Average review score:

A Great Place to Start
Clark Carlton has written an excellent cathecism of Orthodox dogma. This book is well written, up to date and it covers some of the most essential elements of Orthodox teaching. I would recommend this as one of the first books anyone interested in Orthodoxy should read. It is also a great place for Orthodox Christians who simply want to familiarize themselves with the basics.

Outstanding Introduction to the Orthodox Church
This book is one in a series by author Clark Carlton. It is an excellent intro to Orthodoxy for anyone Orthodox or otherwise. Mr. Carlton explains clearly and concisley what the trinity is and why its so important to Christians. The Fall of Mankind, Fervant Intercessors[p.123], What a (S)aint is and is not[p.124] The teachings of Christ[p.127] The Birth and Mission of the Church[p.153] Missions and Evangelism[p.161] Holy Baptim [p.179] The Seal of the Gift of the Holy Spirit[p.191] The Mystical Supper[p.203] And Much, Much more. Family Life and School Achievement: Why Poor Black Children Succeed or Fail
Published in Paperback by University of Chicago Press (October, 1984)
Author: Reginald M. Clark
Average review score:

Caring Educators are Crucial in the Teachings of Children.
Regardless what your environmental surroundings are "in the hood," you can succeed. Right Reggie?

For those who need to know "the why" of parent involvement!
Clark, writing about why many poor black kids succeed in school, gives us the clue to what works for all kids, with every parent, regardless of the race or socioeconomic status of the family. In fact, what Clark gives us is the knowing that it is not the structure of the family that determines school sucess but rather the kinds of experiences the family provides the child that nurture within that child a love for learning. Clark identifies a number of powerful and effective environmental factors that distinguish across all social strata low achieving from high achieving students. This book is for every person, but especially for teachers and school administrators who ever needed to know the "why", the "what for", and the "how" of strong, contagious, and empowering parental involvement in the "business" of the school. Read this book and learn from it. It truly speaks to the differnce that committed schools -- being peopled by caring educators -- can really make with ALL students. Jim Moore

Final Statement
Published in Paperback by PublishAmerica, Inc. (November, 2002)
Author: Bobby Clark
Average review score:

Great insight...fast pace
Bobby Clark brings an insider's view to counter-terrorism measures and the immediate clear thinking, discipline, and cooperation it takes to deal with the "deliberate randomness" of terrorism. A great cover photo sets this stage, then Clark's organized chronology and style allow this tale to evolve from geographically diverse locations without confusion as to who's who. His illustration of the value of real, enduring trust and honor among his characters adds a personal dimension to a very satisfying book.

More than just exciting fiction
This book is an incredible read especially in these times of heightened security against terrorist threat. The plot seems at first to be the work of an average group of thuggish criminals, but as the story unfolds, we find that the hidden motives are much more terrifying in scale and consequence than we could ever imagine.

The author shows detailed knowledge of terrorist and counter-terrorist tactics. In a world of deception and violence, the path to a safe and peaceful outcome can only be found by the clear thinking and good judgment of Grissom and Bartlett.

A First Look at Graph Theory
Published in Hardcover by World Scientific Pub Co (May, 1991)
Authors: John Clark and Derek Allan Holton
Average review score:

A suitable text for an undergraduate course
This book seems to be one of the best choices of the text for an undergraduate course. It covers all topics that can be included in such course. It contains many exercises. Some of the exercises are routine, some others are more challenging. Also the price of the paperback edition is quite reasonable for a text for a semester course.
I should mention that there are some misprints in this text. Also, there are some gaps in the proof of the Brooks' theorem (pp. 194-196). So a new corrected printing is desirable.
